Twin Sisters Complete Full Appalachian Trail Hike

Since 2014, Kenneth LaPensee has owned Skylands Healthcare Consulting, LLC, where he works with pharmaceutical companies in the areas of clinical trials, healthcare registries, and medical records database analysis. Outside of work, Kenneth LaPensee enjoys spending his time hiking, and has hiked the Appalachian trail.

Hiking the complete Appalachian trail is a feat many individuals strive to accomplish in their lifetime. In December of 2016, twin sisters Sue Hollinger and Elrose Couric managed to finish the trail, which is over 2,000 miles long and one of the longest hikes in the world. The twin sisters are 80 years old.

Although both women completed the trail, they found it easier to do so in sections. Hiking the full trail usually takes most hikers about half a year. The sisters had been separated for 30 years, and felt that completing the goal together would be a worthwhile achievement while allowing them to spend quality time together. While they had previously completed other trails, including hiking at Great Smokey Mountains National Park, the sisters stated that this was a lifelong dream of theirs.
